Hi Randy,In previous and current versions of Acronis, the "TIB Mounter" Service/Process normally runs in anticipation of you mounting a TIB file to browse or explore. In earlier versions of windows, the "mounter" actually installed as a system device. To maintain compatibility, the software can behave differently depending on the OS it is installed under. It is also possible that a particular feature in the product was changed in a recently updated version or build.
I did try the converters of Vmware, format incorrect of acronis.I did try with acronis true image to convert them to VHD, didn't work.So i wanted to restore my TIB in a blank vmware Host using the acronis boot disk. There I have a problem when I need to select the recover disk. I get a the Disk Selection and DISK1 is greyed out and can't select it.

Meaning that the image is most liley compressed and can only be used with that software. The point is, if a image can not be used with other software it's no good for data recovery._________________1Q9xrDTzTddUXeJAFRn37aqh1Yr6buDCdw - (Bitcoin Donations)paypal.me/Spildit - (PayPal Donations)The HDD Oracle - Platform for OPEN research on Data Recovery.Top Iszerda Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 20th, 2009, 19:36 Joined: March 4th, 2009, 20:43Posts: 89Location: hungaryYes, the TIB file is normal compressed. So I think too there is no tool for open it.Top Iszerda Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 22nd, 2009, 8:03 Joined: March 4th, 2009, 20:43Posts: 89Location: hungaryI tried that. But Restorer and R-Studio can not handle this corrupt TIB image. Can I decompress this file first with any special tool?Top Spildit Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 22nd, 2009, 17:02 Joined: December 19th, 2006, 8:49Posts: 10960Location: PortugalJust guessing because i don't have and i don't use Acronis, but if it saves the image to propriatary (Acronis) format your best chance to decompress will be to use the Acronis application._________________1Q9xrDTzTddUXeJAFRn37aqh1Yr6buDCdw - (Bitcoin Donations)paypal.me/Spildit - (PayPal Donations)The HDD Oracle - Platform for OPEN research on Data Recovery.Top Iszerda Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 22nd, 2009, 17:30 Joined: March 4th, 2009, 20:43Posts: 89Location: hungaryThe second chance is (because the file is unfinished) to find out a correct file signature and header information for this file. But it is more difficult. But not impossible Top bnice Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 23rd, 2009, 0:56 Joined: February 11th, 2008, 18:07Posts: 166Mount acronis drive tib image in windows from within acronis. Or try restore data at boot, recovery mode. Either may be enough for it to recalculate the hash structures.vm has support for converting those images, with one of their tools (longshot).Maybe you get the data from the original drive again (not imaged with acronis). Go ask acronis, or at its forum for a sollution. The compression will have a patent, maybe you could look at that, if above options fails.Top crecomp Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 23rd, 2009, 1:11 Joined: November 9th, 2006, 22:36Posts: 344have you tried to run Validate option for your acronis image to check the integrity of the file you are working with, i believe this option can do a repiar on your actual file in certain corrouptions.Top Iszerda Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 23rd, 2009, 13:08 Joined: March 4th, 2009, 20:43Posts: 89Location: hungaryThanks crecomp, bnice! The file is unfinished because the clone process freezed. It has no file signature or header info .Validate , mount and boot with Acronis TI 2009 demo write this: This is not the last created volume. I can see peaces of my files inside the file, but that is all.Acronis has problems to open correct TIB files too. VM . I do not try yet.Top bnice Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 24th, 2009, 1:51 Joined: February 11th, 2008, 18:07Posts: 166Better to sector image the original drive, without using acronis.Top HDD Spaz Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 24th, 2009, 3:13 Joined: October 13th, 2008, 7:29Posts: 1492rename tib file to .IMG. Open as image file in R studio then scan for data. Also scan for file signitures, see if any files are working. Winhex is also an option.Top hddguy Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 24th, 2009, 4:11 Joined: November 9th, 2006, 15:15Posts: 2991I am pretty sure acronis images are not RAW images, so this option may not work.Top HDD Spaz Post subject: Re: Corrupt Acronis TIB filePosted: April 24th, 2009, 4:35 Joined: October 13th, 2008, 7:29Posts: 1492I cant say I have ever tried it but no harm in trying.Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 2 [ 26 posts ] Go to page 1, 2 NextMain » Forums home » Conventional hard drives 2b1af7f3a8
