Many kids instinctively know how to operate a smartwatch, swiping to navigate the touchscreen. But these watches can be large and bulky for a small wrist, which is one reason kids may not like wearing one. The kids smartwatch makers we spoke with said their target audience is children ages 5 to 10, which is reflected in the more childish graphics, art, and design in the watches; the expectation is that tweens and teens, kids ages 10 and up, will beg to use a smartphone.
For tweens and teens, the Gabb Z2 comes closest to feeling like they have a smartphone, with some training wheels. They can take photos and videos with a 5-megapixel/8-megapixel lens, and they can easily text their friends (unlike a basic phone, the Gabb Z2 has a QWERTY keypad). Note that group and image texting is available only with a premium $25-per-month plan through Gabb Wireless. Text messages can be sent only to another phone number or group of numbers, not to an email address.
My encounters with stars and what they mean to me make me wonder about the angels in your life. Do you see them twinkling in your sky? Angels are all around us if we look for them. What might happen if we each took a bit of time and told some of those angels the impact of the light they shine? I expect some might not recognize themselves in that role.
