Lastly, and perhaps the most complicated part of SEM is the estimation of the model. SEM is a unconstrained model. Unconstrained means that the estimated model does not conform to any particular structure (i.e., the model does not contain any direct effects or covariance effects) (Brown, 2015). The issue is that the model may be consistent, but not necessarily be correctly specified. There are different estimators for CFA and SEM. They include the ML estimator (or maximum likelihood estimator), the Weighted Least Squares (WLS) estimator, the Robust WLS estimator, the Latent Variable Estimator or LVE, the Double Robust ML or DRML estimator, and the Maximum Likelihood with Robust Standard Error (MLS) estimator (Brown, 2015;Kline, 2016). In order to better understand my new deck, I would like to take a brief visit to the Medieval Munchkin in order to see how this new deck will work. For those who do not know, Medieval Munchkin is a card game based on Viticulture where you play a nobleman in the midst of the time period of Medieval Europe. The goal of the game is to amass the greatest amount of wealth. You play a card game with other players to amass wealth by playing cards to eliminate your opponents cards and acquire the best cards.

If you follow this blog, you may have noticed that I am in the midst of developing a new hand management system. I have been using the card deck which is extremely flexible, but it still has a couple of issues. However, my deck has a fundamental flaw which makes it a little too complicated for a casino game. I would be better off creating a deck for the Munchkin casino game that is a little simpler. The result would be less complex, much less cumbersome, and would be a lot more fun. And there is already a deck for that game.

When you play Greengully, the players get to randomly decide which action to take. This turns the game into a “choose your own adventure” card game, which is pretty clever. In fact, I think that the designers have stolen themselves a very clever idea in Greengully (which is a shame since the first Greengully is one of the worst ever designs in Munchkin).

At first, it is easy to skip Greengully and just play the card game. But after you finish the first Greengully you can go back and play it for the fun of seeing how each action plays out. It is a great little jaunt to play before you play your first summer.
