Meanwhile in 1975, just after Pol Pot had seized power in Cambodia, the Khmer Republic's Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, following his revolutionary ideological ideas, announced a number of new cultural projects, which included the realization of a national musical center, with a construction of a new headquarters near the Choeung Ek Killing Field, Phnom Penh.[23]
However, there were many people who went into the Killing fields willingly to possibly escape the Khmer Rouge.[104] When one goes into the Killing Fields, it is not like entering a building. There are many trees, grass, bushes, and other plants laid down, which include the Khmer Rouge's slogans, like: \"Long live the Khmer Communist Party\", \"Death to the individual\", \"Workers of the world, unite!\", and so on.[104] Many people went to the Killing Fields happily and voluntarily, since they were needed in the army. People also had to go willingly if they were not willing they would go against the Khmer Rouge.[104] Therefore it was said that the people who went to the Killing Fields willingly were called \"The happy ones\".[104] The Khmer Rouge were not going to kill people who went against them willingly.[420] However, there were also many people who wanted to escape the Killing Fields because they did not accept the Khmer Rouge and wanted to escape instead.
The revolution in Cambodia was a catastrophe for the Cambodians and all the Khmer people, it ruined their economy, their culture, and their society. The whole country was blank, and there were a great many people who remained homeless, who had to live in open fields, and some were even homeless at the Choeung Ek Killing Fields. These people were called \"New People\".[166]
However, when the Khmer Rouge takeover occurred on April 17, 1975, people were being annihilated near the Choeung Ek Killing Field, in which a killing area for the Ta Mok (Killer Force), consisting of 8,000 men, had been under construction since November 1974.[23] Many people were killed by the Ta Mok during this period. 7211a4ac4a
